I’m running for the Utah State Board of Education because I want to ensure that we are providing the highest quality education in the most efficient way. I support efforts to increase the rigor in our schools and the emphasis on STEM. I will work to make more out of our limited resources and push for increases in funding to education. I support providing choices in education, including charter and online schools. I believe these alternatives should be held to the same standards as traditional public schools, while still allowing flexibility to innovate. I also believe communication with all stake holders is critical to the role of a board member. I grew up in a family that strongly valued education. Both of my parents were professional educators and my father served as the Utah State Superintendent. I currently have two children attending public schools and my greatest desire is to help them achieve all they can in life. I know a solid education will provide that future.
